What's New?

Thank you to all our Corporate Volunteers for supporting the Social Super Market in 2024

As we reflect on 2024, we we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to all the corporate volunteers who dedicated their time and energy in helping our projects.

Beyond the immediate results of volunteering, each person's time and effort creates a ripple effect and helps us as a charity support more vulnerable individuals and households.

Here is a round up of their activities this year:

Mitie have helped us in numerous ways in 2024. Importantly, they are part of our regularly volunteering rota, collecting our order from FareShare once per month. They also provided us with a team of volunteers to help out at our Community Clean Up Day in June.

We had two sets of volunteers from Virgin Media this year. The team in July came down to our Social Super Market and help to tidy up the local area, delivering flyers and leaflets about our services and restocking our shelves. They also donated 5 Free Shops to our members. In December, Virgin Media volunteers came and helped us prepare for Christmas - they sewed, sorted, bundled and organised Christmas presents for local households, as well as cooking up a storm in the kitchen!

Volunteers from Gallagher's also came along in December and helped us decorate for Christmas - including setting up and decorating our 10 ft Christmas trees!

Premier Foods Wholesale AP Team came down back in May and filled dozens of bags of litter from the area local to the Social Super Market - they also handed out flyers and helped let local people know about our services.

On a very snowy Thursday in Feburary, Yi from WSP in the UK spent a day with us sorting through donations and helping us make sure we can get donated items either ready to go to households in need or ready for sale to people in the local community.
