The Greater Together Manchester Night Shelter will be running again from October until March/April next year and is in need of you and your Church’s support. Can you help?

We need:

  • Venues
  • Donations
  • Volunteers

Becoming a venue

night shelter venueWe shelter our guests 7 nights per week and need to use venues from 5:30pm until 9/9:30am the following morning. Churches are asked to be a part of the shelter one day per week for either 3 or 6 months throughout winter.

Churches are often ideal because they are welcoming, visible and easy to locate. For your church to be involved we need adequate space for 12 beds, volunteer break out space, kitchen facilities and access to toilets/washing space.

If your Church has those things, please get in touch. If you think it might be suitable but aren’t sure, still get in touch – you never know! Please we are specifically looking for venues within a few miles of the city centre and available on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays.

Collecting Donations

The night shelter supports guests who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets and provides them with clean clothes, toiletries and other necessities, however, we also provide support in the form of clothing and toiletries to other charities. We are looking for churches who can collect appropriate clothing and store for a week or two.

Maybe your church is always open Fridays between 10am and 12pm so we can inform the local community about this amazing place to drop off the donations. These will then be regularly collected by the Coordinator.

If you can be a part of this highly needed scheme, please contact Craig.

Encouraging Volunteers

Volunteer applications will open up at the end of August ready for the new season. Volunteers are needed for evening shifts (5:30pm-10pm), overnight shifts (9:30pm to 6:30am) and morning shifts (6am to 9:30am) at locations across Manchester and Salford.

The fulfilling and vital role includes providing food, socialising with our guests, and ensuring a safe, warm and welcoming place for guests to feel included in the community.

Please consider if you can help in or out of the shelter, and also spread the word to your friends, family, congregation and community.
